Investment ads: an open letter to Google

It's good that unlike Bing, Google takes sufficient precautions to prevent illegal pharmacies from advertising with AdWords/AdSense. However, I think I speak for all webmasters who care about visitor loyalty, and most web surfers, when I say that AdSense ads would be much more relevant and much less tempting to block if the same high standard were applied to ads for investment advice and investment tools.

Most of the ads for investments offer penny stock "recommendations" and are clearly pump-and-dump scams. Others are the forex scam, the perennial pyramid scheme or that timeless classic, the Ponzi scheme. A few offer "free software", which of course usually means trojanware.

I've tried to keep questionable investment ads off Life User manually with the Competitive Ad Filter, but it's like playing Whack-a-Mole. New ads with new domain names show up daily.

Google, you've succeeded in keeping the pharmaceutical industry above board on AdSense sites. Won't you please do the same for the investment industry?
