My mom is a talented impressionist painter and a budding photographer under her husband's tutelage. She showcases her pictorial work on her blog, Lunamoth, which updates one to five times weekly (no regular schedule) and is free of external ads.
She's also an avid and creative knitter, and has designed and published numerous patterns on her blog, all but one of which are free. Winter's just around the corner in the Northern Hemisphere, and her sock and scarf patterns will definitely keep you warm and gorgeous.
My stepfather is a semi-professional digital photographer specializing in landscapes (including an intriguing series of urban landscapes) and still life. While his focus on rust, decay and poverty will no doubt seem nihilistic to some, his site — which presents 77 photos ruthlessly culled from thousands of shots — explains how it is grounded in a deeply optimistic philosophy blending secular humanism with Buddhism. While his blog is currently inactive, its archives present some additional photos.
These two fine folks are among the best artists, and the best family members, anyone can hope to meet.
